Glide fit

Aqua based stability/ balance training (ABST) is a new way to train your body, it will not only improve your cardiovascular fitness but it will also improve your physical well-being. Everything that we do in life requires us to use our balance, from walking through the woods, running down the beach, diving through the waves or skiing effortlessly down a pristine mountain, balance is key to our wellbeing, strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness.

The Cardiowave program is designed to provide your body with a full workout, with the extra benefits of rapidly increasing your core strength and using those extra muscles that often go unused on similar land based exercises.

The program is fun but challenging at the same time, so it enables you to reach your health and fitness goals no matter what your fitness levels are. The intensity of the sessions are high but you set your own pace.

Sessions can be up to 60 minutes depending on the intensity and run for a four week block. Sessions are suitable for all levels of fitness, from someone who is just starting their fitness journey to an athlete who wants a new challenge and fun way to workout.

Level I Cardiowave Foundations- For the first three classes in a four week block for those new to Glide Fit, I will introduce the fundamentals to working out on an unstable surface in the water. I will introduce a variety of exercises to build strength from head to toe while you raise your heart rate. You will be working your core to strengthen your body and I will add in mobility training to keep you moving throughout the duration of the class, to test your balance with correct technique.

Level II- Cardiowave sweat and get wet- (You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in level I before advancing to level II). In this class you will be building on the basic movements you learnt in Level I and increasing the difficulty. Level II will introduce single leg movements to increase the challenge while maintaining balance as well as switching up the direction you orientate yourself on the platform. I will also introduce plyometric movements. You will be using the platform as a prop to move in and out of the water, getting wet and cooling off. There will be fun agility drills moving around the platform, you will be in and out of the water which will increase cardio endurance and build strength. You will get wet!

Level III Cardiowave Max- (You must have completed three level I classes and at least two level II classes). In this class I will include props that require greater strength, stability, and stamina than the Level I/II classes. You will be multitasking by tackling balance on the unstable platform, building strength using resistance bands and medicine balls, all while moving in four directions on the platform. These classes will be a full body workout with maximum engagement and lots of laughter as you move in and out of the water. By the addition of equipment you will increase strength, cardio-respiratory endurance, balance, and metabolism, which will enhance your workout and the increase stability demands of your body. Level III exercises are more complex and typically performed at a faster pace than in Level I/II classes.

Clothing for the classes - Don't worry I'm not going to ask you to put on your swimwear to take part in the class, just wear suitable exercise clothing that you don't mind getting wet, so a singlet and shorts or stretchy tights. Please do not wear clothing that's too baggy, wear jewellery or accessories as they may get caught or they may get lost in the water. Please keep toe nails cut short as you will not be wearing footwear. Please bring a water bottle, towel, a change of clothes and ensure you are wearing sunscreen if we are outside.

To take part in the class you must be a confident swimmer as the classes will be held in approximately 4 ft. of water or deeper.

Come and try this new and fun way to workout, set your self a new challenge and create a new you, I'm sure that you will love it!

Smile, Splash and have Fun!
